Anything you need to know about Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival

1. Do I need to reserve in advance?

No, unless you want to have a guided visit for a group of 20 or more people at Kortright Centre or Bruce’s Mill. To book a group 20 or more call 416-667-6295 (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm) or e-mail at visitorservices@trca.on.ca

2. What is included in the admission fee at Bruce's Mill?

Authentic pioneer maple syrup and modern sugar shack demonstrations are included. On weekends and March break special activities for families add to the fun. Your admission fee includes parking and use of the park facilities, hiking trails, sap samplings and maple syrup demonstrations. Meals, maple syrup products, horse-drawn wagon rides are NOT included.

3. What is included in the admission fee at Terra Cotta & Island Lake?

At Terra Cotta, your admission fee includes use of the park facilities, parking, hiking trails, access to self-serve games, live entertainment and maple syrup demonstrations. Meals, maple syrup products, maple taffy, and pyrographics station are NOT included.
At Island Lake, included in your admission is parking and use of the park facilities, sugarbush tour, wagon ride, taffy sample, entertainment and demos and the kids zone.

4. What is included in the admission fee at Kortright Centre?

Your admission fee includes use of the park facilities, hiking trails, syrup samplings and maple syrup demonstrations. Meals, maple syrup products, and horse-drawn wagon rides, are NOT included.

5. How should I dress?

Dress for the weather. Wear proper footwear for muddy conditions. Hats, mitts and warm coats are recommended on cold days. Snow pants are a good idea for small kids.

6. Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are allowed in all parks but must be kept on a leash. Dogs are NOT permitted on the wagon rides or in the pancake house or visitor centres.

7. Is the festival good for toddlers?

This is a family event with activities for all ages. Children under 3 may not understand the guided tour, but they will enjoy the maple syrup samples and the wagon rides. During March break and weekends we also offer special events for children. See our "schedule of events" for details.

8. What languages are spoken by the tour guides?

Tours are offered in English

9. Do you offer maple syrup products for sale?

Yes. Gift shops have a great variety of maple products and maple syrup.

10. Where is Bruce's Mill located?

Bruce's Mill Conservation Area is on Stouffville Road. Take Highway 404, exit at Stouffville Rd. - head east - after Warden and before Kennedy. The entrance is on the right hand side.

11. Where is the Kortright Centre located?

The Kortright Centre for Conservation is located on Pine Valley Drive. Take Hwy. 400, exit at Major Mackenzie, head west to Pine Valley, and south about 1 km to the entrance on right hand side.

12. Where is Terra Cotta located?

Terra Cotta Conservation Area is located in Halton Hills if you are travelling from areas north of Halton Hills:

  • Travel South on Hurontario St (signs for Ontario 10 S)
  • Turn right onto King St/Peel Regional Road 9 (signs for Terra Cotta)
  • Turn right onto Winston Churchill Blvd (stop sign)
  • LARGE CVC Welcome sign on your left
If you are travelling from areas south of Halton Hills:
  • Take 410 N to Hurontario St
  • Continue onto Hurontario St/ON-10
  • Turn left onto King St/Peel Regional Road 9
  • Turn right onto Winston Churchill Blvd (stop sign)
  • LARGE CVC Welcome sign on your left

13. Where is Island Lake located?

Island Lake Conservation Area is located in Orangeville. Take highway 401 west to highway 410 north. Continue on highway 10 through Caledon and into Orangeville. Turn right on Buena Vista Dr (at the lights just past the Best Western Hotel). Turn left at Hurontario St. south and continue to the park entrance. From Hwy 400: Follow ON-400 N and take the ON-9 exit toward Orangeville. Turn left on ON-9 W. Turn right on ON-10. Turn right on Buena Vista Dr in Orangeville. Turn left on Hurontario St. and continue to Island Lake Conservation Area entrance.

14. Do you offer pancake meals?

Yes. We offer a variety of maple syrup pancake meals and combos at all of our locations at an additional cost. Please note we cannot guarantee nut free meals.

15. Do I need to pay a deposit for a group tour reservations?

Yes. Guided tours for more than 20 participants require a 50% deposit in advance.

16. What is the cancellation policy for group tour reservations?

If the group cannot attend on its scheduled date/time, every effort will be made to re-schedule the trip. If that is not possible, notice of a cancellation must be received by phone and in writing no less than 15 business days prior to the scheduled visit. Cancellations with less than 15 business days notice will forfeit their deposit. Same-day cancellations (or no-shows) will be billed for the entire cost of the trip.
